In provinces like Ontario (Class G) and BC/Alberta (Class 5), a standard driver's license permits you to tow a trailer provided the combined weight of the vehicle and the trailer doesn't exceed certain limits (typically 11,000 kg or 24,250 lbs total, and the trailer itself doesn't exceed 4,600 kg or 10,000 lbs for a G license, though rules vary slightly by province).
